Happiness Project: February 2012 – carpe diem

Incredibly, I managed to just about clear out my to-do list in January. Unfortunately, along with February arrived a head cold that I just can’t shake. The good thing about having a clogged head is that the world is blissfully quiet. Silence everywhere, like that which follows a heavy snow, is quite pleasant. I only wish it weren’t accompanied by a scratchy throat, hacking cough, aching ear and pounding head.

Despite feeling quite under the weather, I managed to have a great day at work today and catch up up with my daily to-do items after spending the weekend in the wilds of south Georgia. And so now I’m ready to consider my February Happiness Project. The theme this month is “Carpe Diem”. I worry too much about making sure that everything gets done. As long as I get my work done every day and we’re meeting our basics needs, then I should not fear taking time out to “sieze the day” and head off on an unplanned direction.

So, this month, as I make decisions in our day to day lives, I’m going to remember this. And not freak out about everything that “needs to get done”. If it *really* needs to get done, it will get done. Even if we stop to check out a new beach, museum, restaurant, store.
