The girls and I have been off to Myrtle Beach a number of times, including Jan 2010, Sep 2009, May 2009 and Feb 2009 …. but those trips were unlike this latest one.

All those times, we stayed in a nice hotel on the beach. And this time, well, we stayed at Myrtle Beach State Park in our new pop-top VW. No breakfast buffet, no Disney channel. But still a beautiful beach, wi-fi and a proximity to MagiQuest.

While “real” campers might guffaw at our new camping setup, I’m inspired by it. Camille has decided to start cooking over our old Coleman propane stove (wedding gift). Chloe plans on when we will play games. And I love that there is no tv. Reading, audio books, games, talking and restfulness abound.

I like this other side of Myrtle Beach… but I don’t promise to give up the other one completely…
