I tried, really I did. But working, taking care of last minute crises, cleaning, preparing the pets and house for our departure, etc. took too long. We hit the road late. So late that it was the start of rush hour getting out of Atlanta.
We pushed on through, but didn’t make it very far on the first day. As I refuse to stay south of Charlotte, we stopped in the first town north, Cornelius. I insisted in a decent hotel. I wanted a good night’s sleep and to be able to work in comfort in the morning. If I had to pay an extra $30 (and get free breakfast instead of having to go out, which would almost eat up that difference), then so be it.
Rob made a reservation while I drove, so we were quickly in the room. A bit of unpacking, email checking and showering, and I was ready to hit the sack.
