The day started out well enough. Camille went to Latin with books and pencils; Chloe got to swimming with goggles, swimsuit (top AND bottom) and a towel. I sat down to work with iPhone and computer and review documentation. Good enough. After classes were done, we headed home, packed the car, picked up Moe’s, went to the park to eat while chatting with friends. So far, so good.

Swung by the library on the way to gymnastics — uh oh. Inside the “Ancient Mesopotamia” DVD case was “The Phantom Menace”… argh! (The desert sands of Tatooine might be similar to the sands of Mesopotamia and the beautiful buildings of Naboo might resemble those of Babylon, but….) At gymnastics, Chloe discovered that she had forgotten a ponytail holder — Mommy to the rescue with an extra one in the car! Save!

Chloe finished class, we jumped in the car to race home to pick up the missing movie and return it before going out of town — it is due before we are due to return, and I can’t stand to return things late.

Autopilot heads me towards I-75. Realize in time that we need I-85 to head up the east coast! Alright. Traffic on I-85 backed up, but with three people in the car, HOV is open for us and we cruise on by miles of stopped cars. (I don’t think it is really fair to have HOV open to us; we may be in a HOV, but we’re not really reducing traffic….)

Hear a strange noise, assume it is the groove in the road. Chloe is stuck on her math and ready to throw pencils, so we exit the highway. I think “Wow, the wind is strong, listen to it!” Chloe gets all straightened out on how to “group” to add. Thinks it is easy-peasy (as usual it is SOOOO easy, once she gets it, but before that it is SOOOOO frustrating and she’ll never get it.) Whew. Start to pull out of the random parking lot to get back on the highway. Hmm. Something IS dragging. Oh, look at that plastic piece hanging down — for the past 120 miles!! Push it up and cross fingers.

Stop for gas; Chloe’s shoes nowhere to be found. She thinks maybe she left them at gymnastics (Chloe and SHOES on a trip is a story of its own…) But then they are found under the seat — whew.

Chloe calls Robbie at XMKids. She talks his ear off; he has nothing better to do, right? When he plays back their conversation, he adds in details (correctly) that she didn’t give him. I guess they are good friends now. He’s in our speed dial and everything, you know.

Time to sleep — we have to hit the road again in a few, short hours.

Since I don’t like to think of myself as someone who laughs at the misfortune of others, I can only conclude that you are SUCH a good storyteller, you made me chuckle in spite of myself 🙂

I sincerely hope tomorrow is better!

and yes Friday and today have gone quite well. So much fun to be in the big city! But, of course, Pine Lake is where my heart is 🙂
