happiness project: learning + misc (sep)

Simplify and Prepare, Project 43 and the monthly projects in my Happiness Project … so many projects! In reality, they are all facets of the same project, guiding me to finish or give up old projects and move forward on the ones that are most important to me.

August’s main theme was Exercise. Overall, I did great with the two main focuses: walking 10K steps every day and using the flexibility video. Other than the days where my leg was hurting and those when I was knocked out by the virus, I kept up with both walking and stretching. The stretching has been amazing, actually. Just after a few days, I could feel the difference. I plan to do the video every day that I can from now on!

September:
September’s main theme is “Learning”. In the past two years, I’ve been setting aside time for learning. I have been “auditing” some Coursera classes, reading classic literature, watching classic films, keeping up with current events, studying French, and more. This month, I will start taking an amateur radio class in hopes of getting licensed. I have lots of other learning plans (knitting, guitar, etc.), but I need to not start too many projects at once.

In addition, my plans for the month include small items from other month’s topics, such as decorating the master bedroom, working on the provider directory for the ArtisanDecatur list, beginning to learn about ham radio, cleaning up the remaining dregs of the old social networking things, finishing up cleaning up GBK, getting a better will written, updating our budget, cleaning out my old e-mail (80K emails?!?) and iTunes, and keeping up with my weekly resolutions. This month, I increase the daily goal to 11K steps a day. I just have to keep at it, and I’ll get there!

Many of these small items are the same as last month, but some have been crossed off, and I have moved forward on all of them, and I a few more of might finally be completed this month. It really is a great feeling to be able to cross off many items “for good”!

As usual, whatever doesn’t get done gets cycled back into the plan at a later date. I’ve crossed off a number of ongoing projects in the past month, and I look forward to getting more things organized and done as well as progressing in the longer-term projects. Yet again I wish I had taken more photos!
