After much delibrate thought, I have decided that what I *really* need is three-day weekends. Every weekend, I need a day to decompress from the week – time to nap, read, relax and not be under pressure to take care of people and things. I then need a day to care of all the things that need to be taken care of. Mail to be answered, things to be bought, plans to be made. I then need a day to do fun stuff – go for a hike, go for a swim, go to a play, go out to eat. That’s three days.

Weekends tend to have two days in general. So what can I do? I’ve tried to “take care of things that need to be taken care of” during the week, but with the girls in school, that has gotten difficult as many of the things require their input and help. I can’t buy the things they need, get their room cleaned, etc. without them.

What I’ve been trying to do instead, with minor success, is working extra in the first part of the week so that when Friday rolls around, I can actually use it as my decompression day. Will it work? can I manage to squeeze my work week, along with all my other responsibilities into four days? Only time will tell.
