I’ve mentioned before that Chloe’s school year last year was not a good experience. I haven’t written much about it here, but the classroom and teacher were an extremely poor fit for Chloe. By March, she was ready to quit school. We worked to find ways to find “solutions”, but there was nothing that helped to improve the situation very much.

Given our disappointment in her school situation last year, I very much disliked running into people from her school while I was out and about. When I spotted someone, I’d almost find myself trying to hide. I was a coward, not knowing how to be truthful but polite when asked how school was going for Chloe.

So far this year, school is going much, much better for Chloe. She still sbhors all the “girl drama” and is trying to avoid it, which is not easy but at least it seems a little easier than last year. Her classroom and studies are going so much better than last year which is making a huge difference. This difference has even made it so much better that when I spotted her teacher at Kroger, I went out of my way to speak to her despite the fact that Chloe wasn’t even with me. Being pleased to run into your child’s teacher has got to be a very good sign that things are on the right track. And I certainly hope that the rest of the year will continue to be a good one for Chloe.
