For the next couple of days, we will be living “fishbowl” style, completely exposed. Hope I can remember this as I walk to wash my hands….

Rob is headed to vancouver tomorrow, so I asked him to remove all our window “treatments” tonight in anticipation of the installation of our new blinds on Friday — the girls and I were wowed by how wonderful it feels to have those old blinds down. It is a totally different space!!

We’ve now been living in our condo in downtown Decatur for about four months. Before we moved in, Rob spent an agonizing few days painting the girls’ room a lovely lavender color. We bought a few pieces of new, downsized furniture, including a new bed, new dining room table and new entertainment center (all apartment-sized, budget friendly pieces from IKEA).

But now I’m feeling ready to start making our space our own. The first step? New window treatments. Light from the parking deck flows freely into our bedrooms all night long. While the construction at the hotel next door is done and we are sleeping better now, the light is still annoying. And the heaviness and inflexibility of the “curtains” have weighted me down. I can’t wait to get the new ones in…. And then move on to new paint, some fixtures (um, yeah, there’s no light in the dining or living room right now), and some other fun things….
