One thing I never anticipated liking about Chloe’s foray into public school is walking her to the bus stop each morning. In fact, the bus was my first major complaint but that’s history now. Not only have we figured it all out, but the school system has worked out some kinks and improved communication as well.

I lamented that her bus drives *right* by our corner, but we have to walk three blocks, crossing a major street, to get to her stop. Given that the bus comes in a fifteen minute window, we are often standing at the bus stop for 10-15 minutes. That could be very annoying, except that the other rider at the stop keeps us on our toes…

It is such a joy to walk Chloe to the bus and engage in fascinating fourth grade conversations each morning. Today’s topics ranged from underwater birth and how scary looking a placenta is to the height of the fire hydrant and stability of the street sign. You just never know what might come up … like “Does Santa ever give money?” How do you answer that, especially when you don’t really know the parents of the child asking??

I actually look forward to spending time with Chloe alone on our walk and then the time with her fellow bus rider at the stop …

(I just noticed that our condo building is in the background of the photo …)
