Shouldn’t we done by now? I suppose I should give us at least a month to rid ourselves of the possessions gained over the last two decades, right?

And why oh why does downsizing involve lots and lots trips to IKEA??

The garage sale emptied the garage enough to allow us to start clearing out more stuff, which we are doing slowly now, since we’re also tackling a whole lot of other tasks.

Yesterday we had the closing and signed the paperwork. On top of the car, at the closing, were the ladders we need to start painting the girls’ new room. We got right to work. Rob started prepping; the girls and I went in search of new dining room furniture – something much smaller than what we had. We ended up buying a table and benches at IKEA. If the benches don’t work, we can always replace one with chairs.

I’ve sold a few more pieces of furniture, but still have a long way to go on clearing out and listing the remaining items that we have to find new homes for. I have piles of things that have been claimed but not yet picked up ….

Today I had to tell the cleaning service that we are moving and won’t need them in the new place; they’ve been with us since Chloe was a baby and we lived in our previous house, so it was really sad for all of us to know that they won’t be coming much longer.

We filled the car with “outdoor stuff” (plants, really), a couple rugs, folding chairs and some rugs. While the girls were in homeschool, I dropped the load off at the condo and went to the Baby Kroger for groceries. We ate lunch in the new place, then took Chloe to gymnastics. Slowly, but surely, we are turning this place into our new home.
