pond plants - 5 jul 2011

Our yard is a terrible mess. I’ve pretty much given up trying to plant anything until I can hire someone to do the dirty work of tilling and conditioning, or whatever needs to be done to make it so that I *can* plants things and not have them die in days due to the crappy Georgia clay that makes up our yard. The grass all died years ago; we are left with weeds and dirt for the most part. The bamboo and wisteria and ivy seem to find ways to thrive; probably because they start in the yard next door, where the dirt is better. The nandinas around the house are growing fine; in fact, too fine — and I very much dislike them. And the pond, well, last year we bought a couple nice pond plants … they have just *exploded*; time to thin out the pond?
