Around Atlanta: Panola Mountain State Park
A gorgeous spring morning in Atlanta deserves an outing! With our new Georgia State Parks pass, we decided to head over to Panola Mountain State Park. Similar to Arabia Mountain, a DeKalb County park, the park features a granite outcrop. Unlike Arabia Mountain, access to the outcrop is limited to guided tours, mostly on the
weathering the weather
Today, despite being it being Thursday, I am surprisingly content and relaxed; the Thursday run-a-round isn’t bringing me down for a change. Perhaps this is because I am feeling healthier than I have in a long time (fish oil? blueberries? low-carb?). Perhaps this is because I don’t feel behind at work (though I will be
pollen-free flowers – 23 mar 2011
Though I be they do have pollen on them like everything else in Atlanta at the moment.

Do you know these people?
Seriously, I have to wonder who these people are. I don’t think I know them. Do you? Where do they come from? In the past few days, I’ve been researching (read: “googling”) a number of topics, and I find that the answers to questions (Yahoo questions mostly, I think) and comments on forums and blogs
Travel Tuesday: Weekly Favorites for 22 Mar 2011
We’ve now been home for over a week, and I’m itching to go again. I think we’ll head out for a day trip on this gorgeous spring day. I love what I’ve been reading out there on the web, and I’d love to share my highlights with you. Here are some of my favorites from
trees – 21 mar 2011
I love this trees sculpture. I bought it at a non so fun place, the Signal catalog, I think, but I still like it. It was on the wall by the front door inside our old house. Here, out on the porch…weathering well!
cranky momma in the kitchen
Not the cooking part. I actually don’t mind that bit very much, and, now that Camille is doing a bit of the cooking, it isn’t a problem. Not the cleaning part. I admit, I do get very cranky when the kitchen doesn’t get cleaned up. Or when food gets left out in pots or on
turtle – 20 mar 2011
I wasn’t much in the mood to take photos today, but I did take a few, like this weird one of the turtle hanging on the wall in our dining room…
frustrated, but trying to get past it
This weekend was a rare gem in which I had almost no pressing tasks to get done. I could finally embark on my “long term” to do list of “fun learning” challenges for myself. But it didn’t turn out to be so fun at first. I have this long range vision of mastering WordPress to
Seeing: Dauset Trails
While camping at High Falls State Park just south of Atlanta last weekend, we decided to take a short side trip to visit Dauset Trails Nature Center, a “private, non-profit nature center based on environmental education”. We easily found the center. There were quite a lot of other families there, picnicking and enjoying the beautiful
garden – 19 mar 2011
Rob and the girls picked up some new plants for our garden and planted them today on this gorgeous spring day. I hope that we have some better luck with the garden this year!
overcoming inertia
this morning, I had no desire to head out to a book club brunch. I had a handful of reasons for not wanting to go, but I reminded myself that it would be great to see friends and hang out, so I pushed myself out the door and ended up having a great time. Why
Camping: High Falls State Park
We finally got Evie back from here week in the shop. Nothing was “wrong” with her, but there were a number of issues that needed to be dealt with, such as the non-functioning gas gauge and the windshield wiper fluid spraying off onto the car behind. Not wanting to travel too far from home, yet
gazoo – 18 mar 2011
I took a couple hundred photos of Gazoo today while testing out time lapse gadget. Thankfully, Gazoo does not seem to mind having her photo taken!
Gazoo in Time Lapse
I was quite surprised a few months ago when I realized that my digital SLR did not have any built-in functionality for time lapse photography. I still don’t undertand why not, but I do now have a little time lapse gadget, thanks to Rob. Today, I decided to try it out for the first time.
Photo Friday: High Falls State Park
Last weekend we headed just a little ways south of Atlanta and went camping at High Falls State Park along the Towaliga River. Though the temperatures dipped below freezing the first night, we had a wonderful spring-like Saturday exploring the park. This is an entry for Delicious Baby’s Photo Friday.
