Seriously, I have to wonder who these people are. I don’t think I know them. Do you? Where do they come from?

In the past few days, I’ve been researching (read: “googling”) a number of topics, and I find that the answers to questions (Yahoo questions mostly, I think) and comments on forums and blogs are incredibly short-sighted and rude.

I have publicly stated that I’m not sure I want to remain a vegetarian. I’ve been one for almost 30 years, but I hate how sick I get when I encounter meat. It seriously impacts my ability to eat while we are traveling, and I’m not sure it is the healthiest choice for me anymore. I get physically ill when I “accidentally” eat seafood/meat/chicken broth and, since this is NOT an allergy, wonder if I can fix this problem. I have fewer (that’s fewer — I still have them) ethical issues about meat consumption than I did, but the idea of biting into flesh still really creeps me out.

Aside from my ethical question, most anything I eat that has meat in it makes me ill. I can eat gelatin (Jello, marshmallows, necco wafers, medications) without experiencing side effects — I once went to a gel-cap producing pharmaceutical factory on a business trip…they had barrels and barrels of crushed horse hooves and bones. Gross…but I still ate marshmallows. But, anything else? I get so sick to my stomach I can’t participate in what’s happening. And while traveling, that really, really stinks. Seriously.

I was trying to find out HOW to slowly introduce meat back into my diet in a way that doesn’t make me ill. Anything I could find on the subject was filled with horrid responses and answers. Why are people so mean?

I’ve stopped reading the AJC blogs and others because of the horrid comments that just make me furious and cranky and horrified at our civilization (civil? not a chance).

But, really, WHO are these people? People with so much time on their hands that they can sit around and just be mean on the interwebs? I can’t imagine that anyone I know could possibly be so horridly insensitive to other people’s different situations.

Just because that is what worked for you or it is how you did it does not mean it is the solution or that it will work for everyone. Are people that close-minded to believe that? A data point does NOT prove anything, other than it is possible in certain circumstances….Sheesh.

I had SO hoped for reasonable and helpful answers to my valid questions and all I got was crap. Thanks, but no thanks, interwebs.
