Oh, my. It has been almost a week since Candy Central, and I still have yet to post about it.

I honestly don’t have much to say. For the past few years, costumes have been entirely up to the girls. I try to help with ideas or acquisitions, but really, it is all them. Good or bad, they have learned to not count on me to devote hours to creating the costume of their dreams. And I am incredibly proud of what they come up with.

People don’t always understand their costumes. Who in their right mind knows who Rosalina is? (But honestly, just cause you are ignorant, don’t accuse my child of not wearing a costume…..she spent a long time coming up with that one.) This year Camille was a “steam-punk” character. Don’t know the term steam punk?? Well, now’s your chance to learn something new and get hip.

Halloween

But honestly. Halloween isn’t about our prejudices about what costumes should be. It is a time where our kids get to be creative and dress up to their hearts’ desires (though I do admit there are certain lines I am unwilling to bend — my kids are not allowed to dress too “maturely” … no prematurely provocative costumes here, thank you very much).

This year we had various Halloween parties to attend in addition to trick-or-treating in our hamlet — how I love PL! Rob “lost” Camille at one point, but she hung with neighbors and had a great time. I gave out way more candy than I expected … our halloween “junkies” have managed to dwindle significantly this year (hooray)!
