cascade trail – 11 nov 2016
After a brisk and informative walk with Ranger Robby, I drove over to the Cascade Trail to try out the “Roll Project” in black and white. I love the shallow depth of field on many of these, but I think I may have overdone it.

Phelix and I went off to our happy place again today. This time we went “off trail” a bit more that usual in order to try to get a better feel for how everything fits together.

Homework for my Composition class at the Showcase School this week is to “take a roll” of photos. So no deleting. I gave myself one small break … If the pup pulled while I was taking a photo (as he often does), I could delete it. I tried hard to choose interesting subjects and take

My mind is confused. So confused. Able to get outside after months of hibernating inside, I keep finding myself thinking things like “Wow, the vines have grown fast.” “Where are all the spring blossoms?” Yes, spring. I keep thinking it is spring. Because I can finally get outside. Because I feel awake again. Surely that
around atlanta: arabia mountain
A cool morning at long last. Phelix and I left home by 7am, but we really should have left earlier – I kept waiting for signs of sunrise, but the clouds deceived me. We spent the most lovely two hours hiking at Arabia; our happy place. It has been three months since we were able
september 1st.
September is here! Each year, I imagine that when September comes around, summer will finally be over. Not “summer” but summer. The heat. The humidity. The misery of living in the south. This has been an AWFUL summer for me. The number of days over 90 broke records. The nighttime lows never got low. I
atlanta area: monastery of the holy spirit
I’ve been wanting to visit for years, but never found the right time or anyone to go with me. I decided earlier this year that I’m not going to wait any longer. I will do the things I want to do, even if it means going alone. So when I saw the “Monastery of the

I don’t know when I’ll get back to Arabia. Now that the summer is here, I can’t imagine going outside for more time than is absolutely necessary. Perhaps in September it will be cool enough once again….

A cool morning. Ahead at work. A holiday in France. Time to not only go to Arabia, but explore a new trail without worrying about how long we’d be out. Phelix and I managed to make wrong turns a few times and lost the trail, but we backtracked and found it again. The problem with

With a break in the hot weather, Phelix and I were able to get back to Arabia for two more hikes before summer hits back again. Phelix loves his glade; he splashes in the water and chases sticks and is in his happy place.

These precious little flowers at Arabia Mountain bloom for a short time each spring. While I love the mountain year-round, these flowers make it an even more special place !
