I wasn’t much in the mood to take photos today, but I did take a few, like this weird one of the turtle hanging on the wall in our dining room…

garden – 19 mar 2011
Rob and the girls picked up some new plants for our garden and planted them today on this gorgeous spring day. I hope that we have some better luck with the garden this year!
under control
For the first time in months (or years?), I don’t have an overwhelming sense of panic. Things seem to be mostly under control. No big piles of things that need to be sorted. No to-do list that is threatening to explode. An inbox that is almost empty Slow and steady progress on longer term projects…
painting – 14 mar 2011
We took advantage of the lovely spring day to work on the paintings we had been planning to paint since before Christmas!
spring is in the air!
While we were camping this weekend, the temperatures dipped below freezing one night. Long johns and warm sleeping bags kept us (well, me at least) nice and toasty! Today, the doors are opened wide to let in the sounds, smells and fresh breezes of spring! With the house as organized as it has been in…
dinner – 10 mar 2011
Camille made much of tonight’s dinner, which I modified from the “menu planner”. I didn’t use store-bought garlic bread but made our own. I used whole-wheat pasta and fresh broccoli. I’m finding it very easy to make the processed recipes into more wholesome … I hope I can continue to make minor adjustments….
unexpected benefit
as I wrote the other day, I’ve decided to start using saved menus from the meal planning service I had signed up for a year or two ago. Something magical happened. As these menus have simple *recipes*, Camille has taken to cooking dinner! She’s been making the homemade pizzas (we rely on her — she…
mission accomplished
last week was not such a great one. The girls had three days of ITBS testing, we spent hours getting new glasses for me (have I mentioned that I can now SEE?), and work was a little bit on the stressful side. I had hopes of getting away to go camping with Evie, but because…
room of the month – 5 mar 2011
March is Chloe’s room. What a disaster it was! Thankfully, she was very helpful this time and didn’t disolve into an overwhelmed puddle of crying girl There are still some odds and ends that need to be tackled, but the room is clean and organized!
who has time for this?
Ugh. This morning attempted listen to XM streaming on my computer and found myself locked out of the account I’ve been happily using for years. Despite having other things I’d rather be doing, I did a little searching about my problem and found that anyone who had a password with “special characters” in it has…
meal planning (again)
Once again, I’m frustrated by what we are eating, daily trips to the grocery store, last minute scramble to get dinner on the table. I wonder what it is about early spring that inspires me to work on improving our meal time habits? Last March, I wrote Food for Good Thoughts about how I was…
exercise – my way ….
The past year and a half, I’ve had a goal of geting in 10K steps a day. Working from home doing a sedentary job gives me little reason to move unless I make a point of it. I wear a little pedometer (meet FitBit) in order to remind myself of how little I’ve walked each…
glasses – 2 mar 2011
I headed to the eye doctor and got glasses today. I can now see what I’m typing. Sweet.
compost – 1 mar 2011
We generate a lot of compost in our daily cooking. We’ve been using a “compost pile” for probably almost 10 years now, but I think we have yet to actually use the compost that we create. I see composting as a way to keep the trash volume lower and less stinky …
brewing storm – 28 feb 2011
The much anticipated storm rolled in hours after it was predicted to arrive. And then, while intense, was over quickly. When the retaining wall at our old house collapsed, I had worried that I would never again enjoy a storm… but, once again, I do.
Tomorrow is March already??
I’m not ready for it to be March already!! Where did February go, I wonder? I more inspired than ever to make this a great, energy building month. My goals continue to be to avoid junk food like chips and sweets and calorie drinks. I did fairly well on that in February, and I’m hoping…
spring – 27 feb 2011
Despite not feeling well, I was still able to enjoy the spring-like day a little bit …
To be ill or not to be ill
I am so frustrated with this “illness”. I’m just sick enough to feel low on energy and to want to not socialize in fear of infecting someone else. I’m not sick enough to throw in the towel and crawl into bed with no guilt. Today I’ve worked, done laundry, cleaned the house, made a goodwill…
mixed up files
As I wrote a couple of weeks ago, we’ve been spending time decluttering, organizing and simplifying. Years ago, when I had 10 CDs and 5 DVDs, I didn’t worry about putting things back in the right boxes. I had so few, it didn’t matter. I’d find the one I was looking for quickly enough. When…
procrastinating no longer
I’ve never been much of a procrastinator. I’ve generally had everything I needed to get done done and way before it needed to get done. But lately, I’ve been twiddling my thumbs more, web surfing, social media-ing and doing other meaningless, time-wasting activities. I eventually get everything done that I wanted to get done and…
