arabia – 19 feb 2017

Phelix and I have been hiking regularly at Arabia for two years now. At first, we took the same trail every single time. After a year or so, I decided enough was enough, and we branched out and learned a new trail. Six months later, I finally decided that we would learn *all* the trails.

Now that we’ve explored more and more of the park (with and without Ranger Robby) and have a good feel for the area and have decided that we don’t *always* need to stick to the trail.

This weekend, Phelix and I found an unmarked trail and wandered down it for a long ways, eventually coming out at a street. As we backtracked, Phelix wanted to head off in a different direction, so I let him lead. Good puppy that he is, he stopped every so often to make sure that I was following along right behind him.

His nose and my sense of direction did not prove us wrong. We ended up back in spot that we knew quite well! I look forward to more off-trail adventures with Phelix in the future!
