college search: california colleges
We continued our spring break adventures, traveling down the west coast from visiting washington colleges and onto visiting oregon colleges and then into California. Camille had only two “northern” California schools on her list.
Our first stop was to drive through Berkeley. California state schools are not in the running for a number of reasons, but we wanted to drive through the campus and get a feel for the place.
Our next stop was for a tour of Mills. It was a recruiting weekend, so our tour was filled with students who had been admitted and were spending the weekend on campus. Camille and I greatly enjoyed the tour. The President of the university even stopped us as we toured and asked the students what had attracted them to the school. Very nice. We didn’t like Oakland very much, unfortunately. The school is not situated in an area that makes it easy to reach the “urban core” that Camille is looking for. She may apply; we’ll see.
