As we traveled down the west coast from visiting washington colleges, we entered into the next phase of our spring break, visiting Oregon colleges. As we reached Portland, we took a quick turn though the University of Portland. Not a school on her list, but there and worth a drive-thru.
We spent a couple of days in Portland, mostly so Camille could spend a full day at Reed College. While on paper it seemed a good fit, the visit left Camille feeling that it would not be the right school. I’m not sure why; perhaps there was a lack of diversity. I did not tour with her, so I have no photos.
The next day we visited Lewis & Clark in the morning. I loved the campus, but yet again, it did not feel like the home for Camille. She is looking for a certain campus vibe, and this place didn’t have it. Lovely campus, lovely people, but not right.
We shuffled on down the road for a tour at Willamette University in my mom’s hometown of Salem, OR. We had a lovely lunch at a sandwich shop, then Rob and Camille took the tour. Chloe and I explored the town. Small town, small campus. But sitting along the river running through the middle of campus was one of those idyllic moments in life!
