This past weekend while I was in Ohio, our beloved Evie went to live with a new family. She’s going to be missed. But it was time.
We only had Evie with us for a little over three years, but those were fun times that we had with her! Back in 2011, we decided that a family road trip out west was in order. And I could think of no better way to travel than in a VW Pop Top! After much searching, we found a poptop listed on eBay – one that we could actually afford and was located not too far from us.
We excitedly won the auction and drove off to NC to take ownership of our new car for our Camping V3.0 era. It took a while for us to get used to camping in the poptop, but we were able to make living in her comfortable for our over five week journey out west and our big Roadtrip: Life on the Road.
Since the trip, we’ve enjoyed taking Evie on many a camping trip. However, she’s now over 20 years old and not quite as reliable as we’d like. The girls are getting older, and we’re not getting to go camping with her as often as we’d like. So, sad as we are, it was time to find her a new home and go back to tent camping on those rare occasions that we do get to go camping.
We’ll miss you Evie and wish you well on your next big adventure!
