resolutions and traditions and celebrations, oh my!

It is January 1st once again. And as generally happens at the start of the year, I am making resolutions, or reaffirming resolutions I’ve made in the past, whether I’ve been successful with them or not. My resolutions evolve occasionally and are part of my live fully life goals.

This year, I decided to ask the girls make resolutions with me. Not things they want to “do better” or “change” but places to go, things to do, events to attend. I’m still working on my entries for our 2013 list.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve noticed how much the girls look forward to and appreciate some of our “traditions”. While I know better than to overload us with too many traditions so that they become a chore, another thing that needs to get done. Regardless, I’m hoping to pay a bit more attention to what our traditions are and where we might like to add in a few more.

Last year, I was inspired on and off to celebrate some holidays. I went a bit Pinterest crazy on Valentine’s Day. While I don’t want to “go crazy” with celebrations again, I do want to take more time to celebrate and to try out new crafts and activities. Towards that end, I’ve begun to look at and pull together a list of upcoming celebrations. I don’t think we’ll actually manage a celebration every single day, but if we can do a few more crafts, make a few new recipes and do a few new and interesting things, then I’ll have succeeded.
