This evening I spent a couple hours sorting and packing. Thankfully, not more downsizing work

Down at the fire station, my Fire CAPS friends and I were greeted with lawn bags filled with food donations from the Decatur schools. Our job was to sort out the “bad stuff” and box up all the good stuff.

Amongst our finds – a large box of glass bottles (not allowed). Cat food (though cats are people too, the food bank doesn’t take it). Empty cans (really). And a whole lot of expired food. We had a little competition to find the oldest expiration date. The winner? A can of Campbell’s soup that expired in 2004.

I don’t remember when I had as enjoyable time — a group of folks whom I’ve gotten to know and we could all jump in to complete a project pitching in as our abilities allowed.
