Since Camille got her pick of a fiber festival on the Saturday of our final weekend in Texas, we decided to give Chloe her pick on Sunday — the zoo! But which zoo? Chloe wanted Houston (too far), we had been south on I-35 twice already (ruling out San Antonio), so that left us to choose between Waco and Austin. After reading the reviews, we decided to try out Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, stopping first for lunch at a yummy little place called Terry & Jo’s Food for Thought.
Chloe had a blast! In fact, we all agreed it was a wonderful zoo. Not too big, not too small. The animals were easy to spot and watch. There were lots of great areas for the kids to play. The signage was informative and not too boring. The reptile house was nicely laid out so the kids could spot the snakes and lizards. The aquarium was wonderful. And we all loved the komodo dragon who walked up to the guy in his cage and nudged him in order to be petted.
