While we were in TX for two weeks at the start of the month, I promised the girls that we would do some day trips beyond Georgetown/Austin. The first weekend, we headed to San Antonio. For the second weekend, we did not take off an overnight trip, but we did explore two places new to us at the request of the girls.

On Saturday, we headed back south, almost back to San Antonio (I’ve seen enough I-35 to last me a lifetime, I think), but not quite. We headed west from New Braunfels over to Boerne, passing Natural Bridge Caverns. While I know Chloe would have loved the caverns and the safari there, we were on a mission. We were Kid’n Ewe and Lamas Too. Not my choice, but Camille is fiber-crazy and really wanted to check it out. I expected fairgrounds full of hip, granola-crunchy, Birk wearing people people, but it turned out to be more of a rummage-sale, seventy-something Texas ladies. Nevertheless (despite the lack of vegetarian food choices), Camille had a blas checking out the fiber, spindles, needles and everything else. I admit, the sight of a woman texting while treadling a spinning wheel.

While Camille drooled over the goods, Chloe and Barbara took off to try to find a geocache, but ended up being stopped by a fence. When we were done petting the alpacas, we headed over to the Agricultural Heritage Museum, where the geocache was finally spotted. We were really close to the Cibolo Nature Center, but didn’t realize it until a couple days later when I read the post Another Beautiful Autumn in Texas.

We stopped in at the Enchanted Springs Ranch to see what it was all about, but were underwhelemed. We headed home up I-10 and then across from Frederickburg to Lago Vista. A beautiful ride, for sure!

This is an entry for Delicious Baby’s Photo Friday.
