A crazy week, consisting of flying home from NYC, big deadlines at work, unpacking and packing. But then, Friday, midmorning, we were off again! The girls were filled with anxious anticipation over our return to LEAF. We had gone for the first time back in the fall, and they loved it. Rob, unfortunately, could join us on Friday, but came up on Saturday.

We arrived just minutes after our friends from Pine Lake arrived. The girls pitched in to quickly unpack the car. I headed out to move the car to the parking lot — the world’s longest, dustiest parking lot. It took me about thirty minutes to walk from the car to the camping field; my knee was killing me by the time I made it back. By then, the girls had moved all the stuff, and the tent was almost completely erected! Yeah for friends who pitch in! The girls and I sorted out a bit more of our mountains of gear, then went to check out the new kids’ area.

The Kids’ Village at LEAF has to be three times as large as it was in October! We love how much it has grown. Camille wandered off to find us some snacks; we had skipped lunch. Chloe went to get a “henna” tattoo; I had promised her one in Austin and then forgot about it, so she never got one. She picked out a dragonfly design. Both girls had a look at the kids’ artist market.

Not long after that, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo took the stage, with a full band. They played some old favorites, but also lots and lots of great new stuff. Now we can’t wait for his new CD to come out! (Concert recap here.)

After the show, we headed back to the tent to organize our bedding and food supplies before walking over towards the main stage to get a pizza, baked in a pizza over, right there in the middle of the field! Fresh and good! We brought our pizza back to the tent, played games and made smores before heading to bed.
