Leg still hurting, I didn’t know what we could do for fun on our final morning in NYC. We’d have to haul our packs, in the rain no less, and I wasn’t sure how mobile I’d be. Camille found a cool looking museum, but I made the mistake of not checking online before we headed out.

Packs on our backs, we headed out on the subway from Brooklyn into Manhattan, walked a couple blocks and jumped on a departing ferry to Staten Island. The girls loved the boat trip, and I was happy to be able to sit for a while and let my knee recover from the walking. We had a great view of the Statue of Liberty as we went across the harbor. Upon docking in Staten Island, we disembarked and immediately embarked on a returning ferry.

After a relaxing lunch at Au Bon Pain, we headed over to Camille’s pick, New York Unearthed, only to find the door locked up tight. What a bummer. We then crossed over into Battery Park, where the girls played in the playground for a while. While I sat on a bench to rest my knee again, they headed into Castle Clinton.

Our final borough of the day was Queens (sorry, Bronx, maybe next time!), since form Battery park we took the subway out to JFK for our flight home. I hate this pain and how it has slowed me down. On the other hand, I think the girls enjoyed the slightly slower pace!
