Last Friday after I finished my work for the day, the girls and I headed out on a little adventure. Our destination was the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum for pizza (and a concert).

The drive from Blue Ridge up to I-75 in TN is a lovely one. Curvy, hilly and scenic. However, because of the rock slide on US 64, all the big trucks are using this “shortcut” over the mountains as well. Curvy, hilly and scenic plus TRUCKS equals very slow going.

By the time we reached the interstate, I was ready for a break! I didn’t want to stop at the usual truck stop type place. Luckily, a huge CHEESE sign caught my eye. How could we pass that up! Just a mile or so off of I-75, is Sweetwater Valley Farm, a lovely place for a cheese break. We could see (and smell) the cows, the feed, the factory and more just from the parking lot and store. Because of our time constraints, we didn’t elect to take the tour, but we did salivate over all the cheese choices!

The girls each picked out a cheese; Camille chose an Italian pesto and Chloe chose an extra sharp cheddar. And thankfully, the store also sold crackers, to help us not just take big bites from the bricks.
