yesterday, the girls and I headed over to the Carlos Museum at Emory. Even after having lived so close to Emory and 
driven through it often for so many years, I think this was my very first time to actually step foot on the campus!
Camille had been to the Carlos before with friends. When we got in there, it really seemed to be the kind of place that we should be going to on a regular basis. Camille, being fascinated with ancient cultures, was in her element. She *knows* her ancient history in myths; her teacher was so impressed with her knowledge, that she suggested that Camille take 
the “Greek Myths Exam” (I have no idea what that is). Chloe found things to interest her as well. We found canopic jars, animal mummies and maps on the floor. In particular, the map of the Nile captivated her. We walked up and down it, calling in our local expert (a friend that has taken a cruise on the Nile) to help us learn more about the places on the map.
Despite the parking woes, I think we will be going back there again soon.
Gwyneth – Olivia Kappus is a docent at the Carlos and gave us a wonderful private tour when we were homeschooling. Olivia loves giving tours to kids who love the topic. Talk to her before you go next time.
