This week, I finished yet another book! Despite being sick, or maybe because of, I had some time to read this past week.

I finished Standard Deviations: Flawed Assumptions, Tortured Data, and Other Ways to Lie with Statistics by Gary Smith. While I enjoyed parts of it, I got a bit twisted around so that I’ll now never believe another statistic that I read. Ever.

I continued reading The China Study by T. Colin Campbell. Give my new skepticism about all things statistics, I don’t believe a word of it. I googled a bit, and found lots of people who have written papers about the inaccuracies. I believe that a whole foods diet must be better than a processed one. But I’m not willing to be convinced that dairy and meat and eggs (in addition to the whole foods) are also terrible for us.

I am still slowly making my way through The College Solution: A Guide for Everyone Looking for the Right School at the Right Price (2nd Edition) by Lynn O’Shaughnessy. I find it to be quite helpful.

I just today started Colleges That Change Lives: 40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About Colleges by Loren Pope. I’ll read this one quickly and try to decide if I want to buy a copy for myself to read slower, with hi-lighter in hand.

I don’t think I read any of this other book this week. Too many books in progress already!

I keep a list of completed books on Goodreads. I also keep one here on my blog.
