In the very early stages of planning, one of the first things I did was to book tickets to go to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. I had been trying to take the girls to the Statue for years, but something always got in the way, whether construction or Hurricane Sandy. The tickets to the crown sell out fast, so I was quite pleased that we managed to get some!
The weather was less than pleasant on the day we went, but we had a great time anyway. We took the elevator up to the top of the pedestal, then climbed the spiral staircase the rest of the way.
We found that the food in the cafeteria was actually pretty good and had a nice, relaxing time on Liberty Island before getting back on the boat to Ellis Island.
