piraeus train station – 8 apr 2014

My alarm went off, but I was not ready to get up. After a few hits on the snooze button, I noticed lights outside. I got everyone up and dressed quickly so we’d be ready to disembark when the boat finally docked. Knowing where we were and where we were going was helpful, though we still had to figure out how to get out of the port. Happily the bridge was open and had escalators working on both ends. We stopped at the coffee shop in the train station. A few times through the line and we finally had juice, coffee and pastries for everyone! After a relaxing breakfast, we decided to try to find the ticket machines and to get on the train to the hotel. Making our way was easier than I had expected.

At the hotel, our rooms were not ready, so we left our bags and started to make our way up to the Acropolis. A few twists and turns and a lot of uphill and we were there! We took our time while at the top, then decided to leave out a side gate. We made our way down; Chloe got tired, so Camille and I took off to explore some trails on the slope. When we got back, we made our way all the way down and picked a restaurant for lunch. I was thirsty, so I ordered three drinks.

After lunch we visited the Temple of Olympian Zeus and then the Acropolis Museum. Chloe was tired and fell asleep on my lap in the movie while Camille and Rob explored the museum. We then walked back to the hotel through the tourist junk shops. At the hotel, the girls had some down time, Rob took a nap and I worked on my photos from the past few days.

After resting up, Rob and Chloe went out for snacks, then we all went out to the “sister” hotel which has a rooftop that has a great view of the Acropolis. We stopped at the store next door for a bunch of different snacks, including Kindereggs.
