While we were on the beach the other day, Chloe and I watched some kids playing in the surf and the tidepools on skimboards. Chloe, of course, wanted to give it a try too. The store in town had rows and rows of boards. I agreed; skimboarding looked right up her alley. After choosing the right size and style, Chloe went home and watched a few how-to videos and was ready to give it a try. And she tried. And she tried. She didn’t get embarrassed about her misses and spills. She kept at it. And with practice and more practice, she got better and better.
I wish I had that in me. To be willing to put all my imperfections on display and work towards getting better at something without being embarrassed about my initial and ongoing failures!
Chloe can stay on task single-mindedly when she wants to. Yeah, Chloe!
Go Chloe! I admire her persistence. She’s quite a remarkable girl. 🙂
