This past week, my Facebook feed was filled with “back to school” photos. But for us in Decatur, where school started on August first, we are finishing up the first “term” and are starting our first break. As we headed down the highway to Tybee, we didn’t see car after car of families heading to the beach like we do in April. When at last I saw a “family heading to the beach” car about to overtake me, it had a Decatur front plate — I think we must be one of the only school districts with a break this week!
We finally found our condo and were pleasantly surprised. One building back from the beach, the view from the deck was much better than what we had imagined. No neck craning necessary to see the ocean! A hop, skip and jump to the beach. Plenty of room. Nicely furnished.
While I don’t get the week off (thank goodness for wi-fi), I am hoping to be able to balance work, beach and touristy stuff. But first and foremost, BEACH!
