When I took on our Georgia History Project a year ago, I thought it would be a year long project for us to study the history of Georgia. A year later and we still are pre-Civil War in our explorations.

But that’s ok. We’ve studied the Native Americans quite deeply and have been to many historical sites that explore the long history of the various groups of peoples who lived here before the “Trail of Tears”. We’ve visited sites that we would have zoomed by before. We have a deeper understanding and appreciation for what came before.

I hope that even when the girls are both in school we will be able to take one of two field trips a month to continue our studies. A number of the places at the top of our list are near Savannah. I’m wondering if maybe a September break week in Savannah or Tybee might be a really good idea in order to visit all the places on our list …. ??
