Year after year, I’ve wanted to join the crowds at Yellow River Game Ranch early in the morning on Groundhog’s Day to see General Beauregard Lee make his prediction. And this year we finally got to go! I thought we were getting there early, but by the time we arrived, the parking lot was packed!
We found our way out to Beau’s home and joined the waiting crowd. Not long after, he came out and declared that there would be six more weeks of winter. Unfortunately, we couldn’t really see him through the crowds and the tv cameras. We stuck around for a while as the crowds thinned in order to make our way to the front and get a glimpse of the chilly groundhog.
Chloe wants to head back on a warmer day to see the animals and explore. I’ll have to add that to our plan for this year!

How did this superstition ever get started, I wonder? Cute though. If I was nearby I’d probably want to go see it too.
