On New Year’s Eve, Phelix had a bath, that stinky boy, and went into town to use his Christmas present at the pet store — his mom and big sis picked out a brand new sweater for him. He wasn’t thrilled about staying up until midnight to ring in the New Year, but ring it in he did!
Somehow, being at the cabin has confused Phelix. While he has had only a couple of pee accidents and no poop ones at home since going into the “pen”, at the cabin he peed and pooped both on the screen porch and in the pen. We’re assuming that he has been too excited about being outside at the cabin and forgets that while he’s out he also needs to take care of his “business”.
On the trip home, Phelix rode in his crate with one stop to do business. He’s still a crazy boy int he car, and it is the safest way for us to drive.
On Thursday, Phelix started SCHOOL! He did okay at his first class at Jabula. The 50 minutes pushes his ability to concentrate, but he did okay, overall. At one point he started knawing on my jeans, and the instructor asked if he does that often. When I replied that he does do a bit of nipping, she asked what we do about it. Um, sign him up for a dog training class??
Over the weekend, Phelix was overwhelmed by the number of people at the game night at our place. On Saturday, we went out to two great parks, but the poor boy had to stay behind. Next time, baby, next time!!
And Sunday, sunday!! Phelix learned the joys of FETCH!! Instead of “Keep away”, his favorite, he started to chase the tennis ball and bring it back to my hand and let go for me to throw again. Hooray!!! In other news, now that we took away the Christmas tree, he can see people coming and going on the parking deck and is barking at them all. I hope he’ll learn soon that they all live here too (just like he’s learned about the courtyard).
Phelix does not seem to like suitcases or packing or us moving anything around. I hope he gets over these fears soon, seeing as change is a part of life around here.
