What 7am on a “vacation” day is like.

I very prudently saved up my limited vacation days in order to be able to take a week off at Thanksgiving and another at Christmas. At the end of the Thanksgiving week, I felt I had in some ways “wasted” my time off. I promised not to do the same with my Christmas break, but so far I haven’t done a great job of making it a real “break”.

For instance, by 7am this morning, I had:

  • walked the dog,
  • taken out a load of recycling (still more!),
  • fed and watered the dog,
  • cleaned out the dog’s crate,
  • loaded the washing machine,
  • cleaned two kitty litter boxes,
  • fed and watered the cat,
  • cleared the fridge of old food and EMPTY packages and wiped down some of the grosser shelves,
  • taken out the trash,
  • done dishes,
  • wiped the counters,
  • swept the main rooms,
  • gathered some things for our trip to the cabin,
  • made the bed,
  • made coffee, and
  • started two blog posts.

And this is with Rob and Chloe not being home.

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to squeeze in my “break” later between taking the dog to the vet, returning books to the library and doing some last minute Christmas shopping.
