Well, I’m exhausted. And the family is in turmoil. The dog has turned our lives upside down. Chloe, the one who *really* wanted a dog, says “I didn’t know it would be so much work!!” (Maybe the girls will see – a baby may be a fashion statement these days, but they are really, really hard work too.)

However, I’ve walked 15K+ steps each day. I’ve gotten out more. I’ve met more of my neighbors. All positives in my book. Tomorrow, I’m planning a family hike — a first in a while for us.

The boy still has too many accidents — living in an apartment is a challenge. He didn’t love his first bath with us, but boy did he need it.

I’m working on finding ways to be able to get more work done — more chewy things to keep him busy … a puppy playpen to keep him contained. Hopefully these and his growing used to our schedule will help.

He is learning that Gazoo doesn’t want to play and to stay out of the bedroom and the laundry room.

Slowly, slowly we are getting there. Little by little.

I was driving down Commerce today and saw a little dog being walked and giggled to myself, “now that’s an active little dog!” and realized after I passed that it was you guys! I noticed in my rear view mirror that you looked a little tired, Gwyneth and wondered how things were going with little Phelix…hope things settle down soon 🙂 Young, overactive puppies do quite well in a crate several hours a day until they mature, then they don’t need it. The crate helps to housebreak them (they generally will not pee in the crate) and also helps to calm them down. When mine was young, I kept her in a crate when I was away and played classical music. She liked it and loves classical music to this day, 10 years later 🙂
