I’ve never been shy about it. I don’t enjoy the food part of Thanksgiving very much. I don’t like the traditional foods – I don’t eat turkey. Cranberry sauce is not a “fruit” that I care to eat. Stuffing, even if vegetarian, is something I just don’t like. I eat the mashed potatoes and not much else, unless there is a green salad or a nice loaf of French bread. My favorite food for Thanksgiving is eating pie for breakfast the next morning…. Let’s skip the dinner and just have the pie! I keep noticing that there are lots of people for whom the favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is the leftovers.

This year it is only the four of us and my parents here at the cabin for Thanksgiving. My mom, who does the cooking, has chosen to scale back (I’m all in favor of that)! Everyone got to pick two foods for the dinner. My choices are pie and pie. It sounds like there will still be a turkey and the fixings, maybe just not quite as many. Just as long as I get pie for breakfast on Friday!
