I will readily (probably too readily) admit it — I’m not thrilled that Chloe is in school. I miss our days of traveling and exploring together. I miss our homeschool schedule. I’m trying to make the most of it, of course, but I don’t like it. However, despite the issues she’s had at school, Chloe loves it. She likes doing work with the other kids; she enjoys being in a classroom. Perhaps it is the best for her, even if it isn’t the best for me.

Tonight the fifth grade had their “Literary Cafe”. I didn’t want to go; I really don’t enjoy being at the school. But we all went. Camille brought along a book to read; it was the literary cafe, after all. I brought along only my snark, unfortunately. Perhaps next time I will try a little harder to see it through Chloe’s eyes and appreciate that she’s quite content with this new way of life.

Despite my wanting to leave the building as soon as possible, we couldn’t escape. Chloe is a social butterfly. She kept finding things to do and people to talk to. We were just about the last people to leave in the end.
