a week ago, the girls and I were on our way home from Chicago. Earlier in the month, I had begun to work earnestly on a calendar of “kindie events” and was thrilled to see that Justin Roberts would be performing in Champaign, IL, right as we were heading home.

We arrived in Champaign-Urbana (everyone seems to say it that way, though I always say it the other way — university versus local?), with only a few minutes to spare. We found free street parking just a block away and grabbed a quick bite to eat before heading into the SoDo Theater. The room was quite packed; I love seeing a turnout like this for a kindie event where the performer is not a local! I was a little bit surprised that the kids were pretty much *all* younger than Chloe. After a short while, Justin, Liam and Gerald took the stage.

The fans were enthusiastic to say the least. One kid in a mohawk stole the show whenever he could — he knew all the songs and commented on everything. But, for “Way Out”, Justin had alittle girl come up on stage and play her violin. I really wish my movie had turned out. Apparently she had only learned the part that morning, and, though she looked terrified, she did great!

High energy, great show. Sure wish we got to see Justin more often!!
