Out West Trip: Day 26 (Vernal, UT to Jackson, WY)

Today’s Highlights: Getting to Wyoming. Visiting Idaho for a few minutes. Driving in a snowstorm! Evie breaking down in front of our KOA, of all places.

We slept in until 7:30 this morning. I tried to get some work done, but, as we’ve come to expect, the wi-fi did not work very well. I managed to check my mail and upload some photos. The girls were slow to get up, and it kept starting to drizzle as Rob made coffee and hot chocolate. As we started to drive away, we realized that we had left the top popped in our haste to hit the road!! The morning continued to be drizzly until we reached Flaming Gorge Dam; we saw a moose along the road as we drove along. We stopped in at the visitor’s center, but decided to not take the one-hour tour.

Continuing on, we eventually made it into Wyoming! Rob and Chloe looked for a geocache along a snow drift fence, but were not successful. In Rock Springs, we stopped at a Hastings to use the wifi, get some coffee, eat some lunch and buy a book for Camille. Instead of taking the shorter route to Jackson, we decided to take the more scenic route that goes through Idaho. We stopped for some photos in Idaho, then continued on. We ended up in a snowstorm at the top of a pass, then made our way down and over to Jackson, WY. We checked in at the KOA, then Evie made a funny noise. As we left our site to go get some groceries, she started making a terrible noise, and we pulled over, across the street form the KOA. A Teton County Sheriff stopped to make sure we were okay and to help a little. He and Rob managed to cut off shredded pieces of some belt, and we made it back to the campsite.

We made soup for dinner, and Camille and I did laundry. We tried to go to sleep early in order to get up early to take care of getting Evie fixed. It sleeted a bit during the night.
