Central Park Ramblings
After we left the Guggenheim Museum on Friday, we debated going back the way we came to the subway versus walking across the street to Central Park. We decided to make a quick visit to the park before hitting the subway. However, once we were in the park, we didn’t want to leave; we modified our route so that we’d cross the park and then take the subway on the west side!
First, we climbed the stairs and saw the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. We walked on the path – in the “wrong” direction south towards the pump house. Camille spotted a castle further south, and we decided to head that direction. Along the way, we stopped at Turtle Pond where we spotted, well, lots of turtles!!
We worked our way over to the castle; Chloe loved the steps cut right into the rocks. The castle is actually a weather station; entry is free (donations requested). We headed up the stairs to the top — the views of the park and city are fabulous! From the castle, we took rambling paths through the “woods”. Chloe scrambled on rocks. The girls ran through a field.
And then we emerged at the Museum of Natural History.
Even then, we had only seen a small part of the park — I’d love to go back and spend a whole day exploring the many wonderful areas!
My Trekaroo review.
