What would you do in a Happiness project?

It has now been a couple weeks since I read The Happiness Project for the first time. While I can recognize that I have, in fact, been doing my own version since turning 40 in January, I think I’m ready to give my project a little more structure similar to what Gretchen did in her book. There are so many things that I’ve been putting off for various reasons — “I’ll go to the doctor when I’ve lost x pounds.” “I’ll start my Happiness project when I’ve knocked my blog into shape.” “I’ll start eating better once my leg feels better.” and so on. I’ve never thought of myself as a procrastinator, but it certainly appears that while I don’t procrastinate on many things, I am procrastinating on the things that really matter.

Today I have set aside two hours and will write down my 12+ steps to more happiness. Just as no two people are alike, no two happiness projects can be alike. I will have some goals that are the same as Gretchen’s but I will be tailoring my project to my own needs.

There’s something quite exciting about starting this project. Simply knowing that I can make incremental steps towards a happier, more meaningful life makes me happier!
