Such a hard question. For the past year or two, or even since we lived in DC, I’ve been itching to move. Not because I’m unhappy with our current location, really. I love Pine Lake. Our city of 700 people is an amazingly creative, friendly, unpretentious oasis in Atlanta. I’ve come to appreciate it more and more, especially since I’m no longer the president of the neighborhood association.

It is so much easier to give when I can choose to give in places where I have skills. I am not one to find volunteers, get outside funding and the like. I prefer to quietly help out in little places, where my skills fit.

And yesterday, I fell in love with Pine Lake all over again. Camille went to a “egg felting gathering”. A number of people gathered to make homemade prizes for the Easter Egg hunt. And, though only 12, Camille was welcomed into the group. On our way home, we noticed another neighbor arriving home and stopped to catch up — this is what Pine Lake means to me. Neighbors and fun….

On the other hand, I long for a “city”. Walking, public transportation, and so forth. But, would I really be happy in that life? I sometimes think yes, but I love the life we’ve found here, despite the shortfalls. Argh. Confused, but really, giong to live in the moment. We are here, and I will give my best to Pine Lake (or is that Pine Puddle?).
