under control
For the first time in months (or years?), I don’t have an overwhelming sense of panic. Things seem to be mostly under control. No big piles of things that need to be sorted. No to-do list that is threatening to explode. An inbox that is almost empty Slow and steady progress on longer term projects
Doing: MagiQuest
On one of our trips to Myrtle Beach, we visited the Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach and stumbled across MagiQuest. As my girls love fantasy, making up adventure games and Harry Potter, they were immediately intrigued. At home, they went online and learned all they could about this interactive role-playing game involving magical
chloe rocks – 15 mar 2011
Chloe had to be prodded to go up and dance at today’s concert. But once she was up there, it was impossible to get her to stop rockin’ out.
ralphheads, really
Back in 2003 when we first met Ralph, Camille was 4.5 and Chloe was 6 months old, sleeping in the sling. I had a cell phone, but it didn’t take photos and certainly not videos. I can’t remember if I had a digital camera at that point, but I still relied on my SLR film
Travel Tuesday: Weekly Highlights for 15 Mar 2011
We spent last weekend camping with “Evie” and work has been nuts, but, nevertheless, I do try to keep up with my rss subscriptions! I love what I’ve been reading out there on the web, and I’d love to share my highlights with you. Here are some of my favorites from the week: Mother of
painting – 14 mar 2011
We took advantage of the lovely spring day to work on the paintings we had been planning to paint since before Christmas!
Camping: Myrtle Beach State Park
As I mentioned in my post Photo Friday: Myrtle Beach, we spent three days camping at Myrtle Beach State Park last month. Before we headed out to pick up “Evie”, we booked a amping site via the park’s website, hoping that we’d have a nice one. Upon arrival, we registered and were given the wifi
spring is in the air!
While we were camping this weekend, the temperatures dipped below freezing one night. Long johns and warm sleeping bags kept us (well, me at least) nice and toasty! Today, the doors are opened wide to let in the sounds, smells and fresh breezes of spring! With the house as organized as it has been in
camboodle – 13 mar 2011
Well, we tried to get more pouches up on Camille’s Etsy site. But first the SD card broke. And then her computer got a virus. Hopefully she’ll be able to get all these pouches listed soon!!
high falls state park – 12 mar 2011
A nice day of being outdoors at the park!
high falls state park – 11 mar 2011
We finally managed to get everything packed up and got out the door. The park wasn’t too far away, so we had plenty of time to register and pick out a nice site along the river.
Photo Friday: Myrtle Beach
A few weeks ago we headed out to North Carolina to pick up my mid-life crisis vehicle that we had won in an eBay auction. Since we were already at the coast, we decided to give her a camping test run at Myrtle Beach State Park. Oh, how I love to be at the beach!!
chaos in the house
I thought we had packing down to a science. And I thought the work I had done to outfit Evie would make it so we could just hop in and go. But, somehow, things did not go well this morning. Three hours later and we are still not sure that we have everything ready to
dinner – 10 mar 2011
Camille made much of tonight’s dinner, which I modified from the “menu planner”. I didn’t use store-bought garlic bread but made our own. I used whole-wheat pasta and fresh broccoli. I’m finding it very easy to make the processed recipes into more wholesome … I hope I can continue to make minor adjustments….
lesson learned
The girls get a (virtual) weekly allowance. Allowance at our house is not tied to chores, though on rare occasions I have been known to fine the girls when certain rules have been broken, most notably CDs and DVDs not getting put away. I’ve considered fining for gum wrappers on the floor and apple cores
Seeing: Audubon Zoo
We woke on our last morning in New Orleans to a freezing, windy day. After I had worked a bit and had rescued the car from its garage, the girls and I checked out of the hotel and drove down St Charles to the Audubon Zoo (and they all ask’d for you.) The dramatic change
Seeing: Audubon Insectarium
The “Audubon Experience” package that we purchased in New Orleans included the Audubon Insectarium. I hadn’t planned o going (bugs?), but as it was part of the package and centrally located on Canal Street, I figured we might as well give it a try. We had a few free hours and the rain outside convinced

camboodle – 8 mar 2011
Last night, Camille and I set up her Camboodle Etsy store. And she’s already sold three pouches! She still has about eight more to list, but taking photos and writing descriptions is time-consuming, so she’s only adding about four a day right now. I am sure it will slow down soon, but boy this has
