Scenes from Beach Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale

On our trip to Fort Lauderdale last month, we stayed at a nice hotel right on the boulevard which runs along the beach, aptly named Beach Boulevard. During our stay, we walked up and down this boulevard a number of times each day and visited a few of the businesses.

The first night, we went to dinner at Spazio. The live music was very nice, but the food was not very good and really quite expensive. I had to remind myself that we were paying for location, not food, really.

Another afternoon, we ate at H2O Cafe. Again, a fairly high priced restaurant across the street from the beach with no kids’ menu. I don’t particularly like kids’ menus, but when meals cost as much as these do and my kids can barely finish a child’s portion, I am not buying her a full meal. We bought three meals and each gave some of our food to Chloe; it all worked out well!

The girls equate trips, especially trips to the beach, with ice cream. And they found a GREAT ice cream place on Beach Boulevard! We watched as the cones were made on a waffle iron, folded and then dipped in all sorts of yummy treats. I don’t usually get ice cream, but I ended up getting my self some one day just to have the pleasure of trying out one of the handmade bowl shaped cones. Yum!

In an alley off the main drag, we found the Pirate Shop! Full of all things pirate, including a pirate Christmas Tree (of course!).

Other things we found along Beach Boulevard included the CVS next door which had fresh fruit, cheese and all sorts of great stuff, a playground on the beach, and a Duck Boat!
