Hard to believe we got back a week ago from New Orleans (and haven’t yet headed off somewhere else). Overall we had a lovely three days in the Big Easy. Dinner at a nice restaurant, beignets at Cafe du Monde, riding streetcars (and a ferry!), visiting the Audubons and wandering though the French Quarter. Oh, and seeing a Bruce Willis movie being filmed, too!

I haven’t been since pre-Katrina, back when the girls were much younger. Despite our weather challenges (lots of places were closed on Monday, our one really nice day), we had a lovely time, and the girls now have a much better feeling for what New Orleans is. Camille discovered a number of things she’d like to do when we return.

As a vegetarian, eating in New Orleans is *always* a challenge; I had hoped that this would have changed, but apparently it hasn’t too much. We went into one “restaurant” at the zoo and they laughed us right out — there was nothing suitable for vegetarians on their menu! Oh well.
