I can’t believe how long it has been! Just a bit short of a year since we’ve been to my ultimate happy place … The XM recording studio in Washington, DC! Finally, after a year of conflicts, we got back up there this weekend to see Dog on Fleas in the Rumpus Room. Not only did we get to see a great band which we’ve never seen live in concert before, but we also got to see a number of old friends (hi Mindy! hi Margro! hi Dean!) but new ones as well (hi Ilene and Noah!).
After worrisome weather reports, we left south VA earlier than usual and FLEW up the HOV on I-95 into DC to Union Station. A bit of time reminiscing and browsing in the bookstore, we took the metro (SmarTrip cards still FULL of money) up to NY Ave and had our favorite lunch at the new (new since we’ve been going, but not so new anymore) Au Bon Pain. Yum. We’ve even learned to note “No Meat” on the order slip….
Then off to my Happy Place. XM. Why that place is my happy place, I’m not sure. But the second I walk in, nothing phases me. I’m in my version of heaven. Nothing gets me down while I’m there. We caught up with old friends, met up with new ones, and had a wonderful time at the Dog on Fleas Rumpus Room concert.
