Traditionally, the first Saturday in December is the big Holiday celebration day in Pine Lake. In 2007, 2008 and 2009, we loved being here in Pine Lake for all the fun. This year, we were again active participants in the holiday cheer!

At the pancake breakfast in the morning, Chloe sat on Santa’s lap and whispered her wish list into Santa’s ear. Camille chose to read a book.

This year the Lighting of the Lake festivities were a tad disorganized. Last weekend, my friend Lalah realized that no one was organizing the event for this year, so she and I stepped up to handle it at the last minute. She pulled together a great said of musicians and storytellers, while I tried to make sure we’d have some beverages. Unfortunately, it came together too late to have any pageant involving the kids or real decorations, but it was lovely nonetheless. The cookie exchange, thanks to Lalah, was a hit. The kids got up on stage to dance. And, just as the mayor came out to turn on the reindeer lights, one of the figures was knocked over by kids playing tag in the dark. In the end, it was PERFECTLY Pine Lake, where “We are all here, because we’re not all there.”
